This Minnesota modern home tour will blow your mind in all the right ways!
I can’t remember where exactly I came across this amazing Minnesota home renovation but when I saw it, I knew I had to share. This gorgeous craftsman is located in the Twin Cities area is owned by Alison Allen on her blog Deuce Cities Henhouse. She’s been lovingly renovating, decorating and DIY’ing the place to fit her MCM aesthetic and we’re so into it! Mixing styles can be a difficult task but man, this is about as good as it could possibly ever get!
See for yourself!
You should know by now that we love every shade of navy or blue on home exteriors, also those window boxes are adorable.
This is giving me a heart attack with gorgeousness. The beautiful woodwork on those stairs and the modern lines of the dresser, it’s perfect.
The perfect moody shade of blue on the inside too. People get nervous about going with a dark paint but I’m so glad Alison didn’t! It feels cozy and dramatic and perfect for the house. The light sofa and white frames provide contrast and make everything feel a little less heavy. It’s such an inviting space.

Wallpaper heart eyes, such a pretty pattern!
Alison went super modern in the kids’ room, love the bunk beds and the bright colors! The geometric accent stripe is super cool too, what a fun feature.
Floor to ceiling subway and I wouldn’t have it any other way, notice the big hexagon tiles on the floor as well. The industrial feel of the cast iron wall mount sink with the rustic shelf above is great, I love a bathroom with style.
I’m super into all of the wallpaper in this house, it feels appropriate on a craftsman, doesn’t it? Totally tasteful and I can get behind those patterns. I bet those wood floors are original and refinished, huge score! Don’t we all want to find the original floors intact? It’s the ultimate dream.
Oh hey, Alison’s got a green thumb too. She’s a woman of many talents! What a great outdoor space and I’m ready for a nap in that hammock right now.
More than anything, we love how Alison managed to combine some super traditional elements that came with her home and infuse it all with her own mid-century modern vibe. We know first hand that 100-year-old homes come with their own set of challenges and rewards and are so happy to see the beautiful home she’s made out of hers. Be sure to follow her on Instagram @deucecitieshenhouse, they just bought a cabin in the Minnesota woods and I can’t wait to see what they do with it!
